We made it back to the South today -- now staying at an extended stay hotel/residence up river from Saigon downtown. Two bedrooms, kitchen, large living room and dining area -- very nice, and just what we needed for an R&R day. Staying here because all the hotels (we wanted to stay in) in Saigon downtown were booked. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because this place is great!
Our unexpected day in Danang turned out to be very interesting. We had fun despite not making it to Hoi An and Hue, and spending half the day working up logistics for our return to Saigon. Danang is a big little town, with a fairly small 'downtown' area. Got a decent room overlooking the 'flooding' Han River.
